On Perez Road, the Studios and the Showrooms Keep Different Hours

November 5, 2026

If you take holiday guests to Perez Road on the fourth Friday at 5:30, what will they see? The working studios will be lit and the artists will be standing in their doorways. Most of the vintage furniture showrooms a few doors down will have been closed for half an hour. Come back on a Saturday morning in the same month and nearly the whole street is open. That difference is a matter of scheduling, and it decides whether a visit covers all of Perez Road or only half of it.

Two Address Numbers, One Curve in the Road

Perez Road holds two groups of buildings that share a stretch of pavement.

The first is the Perez Art District at 68845 Perez Road, between Date Palm Drive and Cathedral Canyon Drive. Discover Cathedral City calls it the Coachella Valley's largest creative hub, with more than 60 artists, galleries and stores. Most of the artists work in buildings A, C, H and I. The stores and galleries are mostly in the 68929 building, and there's parking in front of and behind each building.

That 68929 building is the second group, which goes by Perez Art + Design. Its own directions put it just behind the Agua Caliente Casino. You take Date Palm Drive north from Highway 111, turn left onto Perez Road, and look for the entry sign on the left just before the big curve. The center's site says some locals call it the "secret sidewalk."

Both groups draw people with an eye for design, but they work on different schedules. The studios open to the public on art walk days. The showrooms keep their own regular retail hours, most of them Wednesday through Sunday, with Hedge open Friday through Sunday.

The Hours, Side by Side

Here are the hours each showroom posts on the Perez Art + Design site, set against the district's two monthly art walks. The site notes that summer hours may vary.

Showroom What it carries Friday hours Saturday hours Open during Fourth Friday, 4–7 p.m. Open during Second Saturday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

The Fourth Friday evening walk runs three hours. Six of the seven showrooms overlap with only the first of those hours, and Hedge closes the moment the walk begins. The Second Saturday Showcase runs four hours, and every showroom is open for at least three of them. Between noon and 3 p.m. on a Second Saturday, every studio door and every showroom door on Perez Road is open at once. That happens on no other regular day of the month.

Saturday Is When the Whole Street Is Open

The district bills the Second Saturday Showcase, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., as a daytime walk for people who want to see artists at work in their studios and "still be home before dark." Those hours also happen to fit inside the showrooms' retail day. You can see a painting in a studio and then, by early afternoon, look at the vintage console or lamp it might sit beside, all in one parking spot.

The showrooms give that pairing plenty to work with. Object Culture is a 3,000-square-foot gallery owned by Barry Bryant and Johnny McLendon. It sits in a former industrial space with high ceilings, which draws designers and collectors. The Gilded Owl is Andy Goldsborough's gallery, relocated from West Hollywood. Its name nods to an owl's watchful eye and to his focus on finish and detail. When Palm Springs Life covered the move in 2024, it described vintage Italian mid-century furniture, period lighting and artwork. Hedge, owned by Charles Pearson and Thomas Sharkey, calls itself a store, a gallery and an experience, built on a shared taste for objects that are "unusual, dynamic and unpredictable." At-HOM has been buying, selling and trading vintage furniture and vinyl records for more than 16 years.

Hedge is the one to plan around. It's open Friday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., so on a Second Saturday it opens an hour after the walk starts. If you arrive at noon instead of 11, every door on the street is open at once.

Friday at Four Belongs to the Studios

"Fourth Fridays at 4:00" runs 4 to 7 p.m. on the fourth Friday of every month, September through May. The district pitches it as a chance to follow an artist's work over time and to buy directly from the person who made it. The same announcement suggests treating it as the start of a night out in Cathedral City: see some art, then go to dinner. NBC Palm Springs reported in October that the work goes beyond painting and sculpture to ceramics, glass art, screen printing and custom embroidery, and that there's a bookstore in the district as well.

The city's own artist profiles give a sense of what's behind those studio doors:

  • Kippi Leonard builds layered oil paintings with cold wax, graphite, charcoal, oil stick and Coachella Valley desert sand, according to Discover Cathedral City.
  • Andrée B. Carter makes abstract mixed-media work that combines painting, needlepoint and collage. That's in the same profile.
  • Lisa Loudin draws intricate pen-and-ink trees in which words and small figures surface inside the image, per a 2025 city feature.
  • Kathleen Struckoff, working as La Chica Art, paints impressionist oils, often outdoors, of city scenes, Route 66 and desert landscapes. That's in the same feature.
  • Emeline makes text-based artwork from handmade letters about preserving memories, per a 2026 profile.

If you mainly want to talk with the people who made the work, a Friday at four is the better choice. If you want the showrooms too, the 4 p.m. start leaves you about an hour before most of them close.

The Holiday Season on Perez Road

The calendar between now and the new year lines up in a way that makes these choices more concrete. Both walks are free, and the district's site keeps the current schedule.

  1. Saturday, November 14: Second Saturday Showcase, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is the first full-street day after this post goes up. Arrive at noon and every showroom on the table above is open.
  2. Friday, November 27: Fourth Friday, 4 to 7 p.m. The regular schedule puts this walk on the day after Thanksgiving. Artist James Russ Phillips lists it on his own events page with a pitch aimed at holiday weekends: "Skip the big-box crowds." For a houseful of guests, plan on studios after four. If the group wants furniture as well, get there right at the start.
  3. Saturday, December 12: Second Saturday Showcase, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. That same day, the city's free SnowFest 2026 runs from 4 to 8 p.m. at 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero downtown. It promises 12 tons of real snow, visits with Santa and a tree lighting. The walk ends an hour before SnowFest begins, so you can do both on the same Cathedral City afternoon.
  4. Friday, December 25: no walk. Christmas falls on the fourth Friday this year, and the district's homepage says plainly that there is no art walk on Christmas.

That makes December 12 the last Perez Road art walk of 2026. The season runs through May. The final Second Saturday is May 8, 2027, and the final Fourth Friday is May 28, 2027.

Perez Art + Design pitches its curve of road as a place to find what designers already know about, with seven showrooms of vintage, mid-century and modern pieces. If you're furnishing a desert home, or picturing how one original piece might anchor a room, Charles Gallagher brings an interior design background to that question and is glad to talk it through.
